Canada announced its plan to send an ambassador to attend an emergency meeting regarding gang crime in Haiti, and a spokesperson for the Office of the Minister of Foreign Affairs said that Bob Rae, Canada's ambassador to the United Nations, will be among those attending the meeting.

The leaders of the Caribbean region had demands directed to Canada, the United States, France, Brazil, and the United Nations to hold a meeting in Jamaica to discuss the escalating gang violence.

Members of the regional CARICOM trade bloc had tried to convince influential political figures in Haiti to agree to form a comprehensive transitional unity government, which was about a month ago, but all efforts made to reach solutions have failed.

The people who were evicted from their homes resorted to government buildings.

It is noteworthy that Foreign Minister Mélanie Joly issued a statement through her social media accounts in which she indicated that Canada condemns the abuses and violations committed by the armed violent gangs in Haiti.
