While the Canadian national soccer team can secure its qualification ticket to the 2022 World Cup finals tomorrow, Thursday, by winning against its Costa Rican host, the anticipated match between the Mexican and American teams attracts the most attention among all matches in the twelfth round of the CONCACAF qualifiers (North, Central America, and the Caribbean).

The Mexican and American teams will meet tomorrow in this round of the final stage of the CONCACAF qualifiers for the 2022 World Cup, while the Jamaican team opens this round's matches tomorrow against its Salvadoran counterpart, Panama plays against Honduras, and the Canadian team visits Costa Rica.

The Canadian team tops the qualifying table with 25 points from 11 matches played in this stage so far, while the American and Mexican teams hold the second and third places respectively, each with 21 points. Panama comes fourth with 17 points, followed by Costa Rica with 16 points in fifth place.

The competition for the three direct qualification spots has narrowed among these five teams before the last three rounds of the qualifiers, while the Salvadoran team (nine points) can only compete for fourth place in the qualifying table, whose holder qualifies for a playoff against the champion of the Oceania qualifiers.

Jamaica (seven points) and Honduras (three points) have officially exited the qualifiers after losing the chance to compete for one of the direct qualification spots as well as for the fourth place and the global playoff.

With the possibility of the scene changing significantly over the remaining three rounds of the qualifiers, excitement dominates these rounds, especially with the heated competition for fourth place, given the difference in level with the teams favored to win the Oceania qualifiers.

The Canadian team aims to secure early qualification and guarantee a return to the finals after a 36-year absence from the World Cup since participating in the 1986 edition in Mexico.

However, the team's task will not be easy tomorrow when facing its Costa Rican host, who also aspires to win and enhance its chances to compete for one of the direct qualification spots or at least for fourth place, which the Panamanian team currently occupies.

During the 11 matches played in the final stage of the qualifiers so far, the Canadian team has not lost any match but achieved seven wins and four draws.

The team, led by its coach John Herdman and stars like Alphonso Davies, has confirmed its dominance this time in the CONCACAF qualifiers and the team's ability to return to the global tournament where the team only needs to win any of the remaining three matches in the qualifiers.

Meanwhile, the historic "Azteca" stadium in Mexico City will witness tomorrow the strongest and most important confrontation in this round of the qualifiers, where the Mexican and American teams meet in the "Clasico" of these qualifiers.

Pride will not be the only goal for the two teams in this big match between the two CONCACAF teams that have succeeded the most in reaching the World Cup finals, but the winner will largely ensure a huge step closer to qualifying for the World Cup.

The Mexican team, led by its Argentine coach Gerardo Martino, hopes to regain the winning rhythm against its American counterpart as Mexico's last victory over the American team was during a friendly match in September 2019 in New Jersey, while the last Mexican win over the American team on home soil was in 2009.

The Mexican team misses the efforts of its star Andrés Guardado in this confrontation, while the American team misses its players Sergiño Dest, Barcelona defender, and Brendan Aaronson, Salzburg attacker, due to injury.

In another match tomorrow, the Panamanian team hosts Honduras in a match where a win is essential for Panama if it wants to keep its strong chances in the qualification race, especially as Honduras is currently bottom of the qualifying table.

The Panamanian team caused a surprise by successfully making its way to the 2018 World Cup in Russia, and the team now looks to benefit from the experience of players like Román Torres and Michel Murillo to qualify for the World Cup for the second consecutive time.

Also, winning against the Jamaican team tomorrow seems to be the only way for El Salvador to remain in the competition for fourth place in hopes of entering the global playoff against the champion of the Oceania qualifiers.
