The Toronto Public Health Agency said that an infant who recently returned from travel contracted the disease, and the child is now recovering at home. Toronto recorded its first case on February 16.

Meanwhile, the Toronto Public Health Authority warned that anyone who went to Agincourt Public Library between 1:00 PM and 5:30 PM on March 11 should monitor symptoms until April 1 and double-check that their vaccinations are up to date.

Measles symptoms include a red rash, fever, cough, runny nose, red eyes, and fatigue.

Patients can also develop unusual white spots in their mouths.

The number of measles cases in Ontario so far this year has surpassed the total number of cases reported in 2023.

The Ontario Public Health Authority confirmed at least eight measles infections across the province as of March 13, identifying cases in the Windsor-Essex area, Brant County, Peel and Hamilton County, and in 2023, Ontario recorded seven cases of measles.

At the national level in Canada, the Canadian Public Health Agency reported 17 cases of measles as of March 2, along with one case of congenital rubella syndrome.
