The Canadian authorities said today, Sunday, that Hurricane "Fiona" has turned into a tropical storm.
Canadian Emergency Minister Bill Blair added that the damage caused to the country by Hurricane Fiona is unprecedented.
Pierre also confirmed in a tweet on Twitter that the federal government has approved a request for federal assistance from the Canadian forces to help local authorities ensure the safety of residents, as well as assist in assessing the damage caused by Hurricane Fiona.
The storm hit the eastern coasts of Canada, causing power outages for 500 homes, as well as uprooting trees and damaging a large number of houses.
Subsequent reports indicated that Canadian authorities decided to deploy army personnel to remove the effects of the storm in the affected areas.
