A British newspaper mentioned that there is a belief that China targeted a group of senior parliament members and their peers in a new series of cyberattacks aimed at undermining democracy in Britain.

The British "Sunday Times" newspaper reported that British Deputy Prime Minister Oliver Dowden is expected to brief the British Parliament tomorrow, Monday, on Beijing's involvement behind a wave of state-sponsored interference.

It is rumored that a small group of China opponents have been called to attend a briefing by the security director in parliament, Alison Giles, regarding the activity, according to the British "PA Media" agency.

Among them are former Conservative leader Sir Ian Duncan Smith, former minister Tim Loughton, his counterpart Lord Alton, and Scottish National Party MP Stuart McDonald, according to the newspaper.

It is noted that the four are members of the lobbying group of the International Parliamentary Alliance on China, which focuses on issues related to this Asian country.

A spokesperson for the British government declined to comment
