The Canadian Ambassador to Palestine, Robin Welfer, visited the "Never Forget" Association in Jenin Camp accompanied by a delegation from the Canadian representation. They were welcomed by the association's president, Farha Abu Al-Hija, members of the administrative board, the association staff, MP Shami Al-Shami, and a number of mothers of the martyrs.
Farha Abu Al-Hija mentioned that this visit comes within the framework of the partnership between the association and the Canadian representation, where support was provided to the association within projects and programs supporting the Palestinian refugee woman, especially in the field of political participation.
Abu Al-Hija also pointed out the importance of the role played by Canadian Ambassador Robin Welfer in supporting the Palestinian cause and the Palestinian people, especially women.
During the visit, Robin listened to the suffering of the mothers of the martyrs, especially those whose bodies are still held by the occupation, where they demanded the necessity of pressuring the Israeli government to release their sons detained in the occupation's morgues, affirming that the international community has abandoned its responsibilities and that there is no advocate or supporter for this cause, demanding the ambassador to send their message to the highest levels and to human rights institutions to retrieve their sons' bodies.
The participating women also spoke about the reality of refugee women, their conditions, and the threats they face within the system of customs and traditions that still view women negatively and traditionally, demanding the necessity of empowering women socially, politically, and economically so that they become able to bear their responsibilities and change the negative perception of them.
The children also spoke about the daily life situation, especially regarding the daily raids on the camp and the extent of the harm surrounding them due to the lack of security and safety, demanding the ambassador to be supportive and backing of their rights so they can live like other children in the world.
During the visit, a film was shown about the founding of "Never Forget," which was born from the heart of suffering as a result of the Jenin Camp massacre, in addition to presenting popular and artistic performances and traditional dabke dances.
