The Russian journalist Marina Ovsyannikova, who became a well-known face after storming a live television broadcast to denounce the war in Ukraine, was arrested on Sunday in Russia, according to her lawyer and close associates.
No official statement was immediately issued regarding the reasons for this arrest, but it comes a few days after Ovsyannikova protested alone near the Kremlin, holding a sign criticizing the military intervention in Ukraine and President Vladimir Putin.
Close associates of the journalist posted a message on her Telegram page stating that "Marina has been detained. There is no information about her whereabouts," which was also confirmed by her lawyer to the RIA Novosti news agency.
