Amazon has decided to impose additional fees on some sellers during the upcoming holiday season to offset rising labor and logistics costs.

35 cents per item

The company said in an email statement that it will charge a fee of 35 cents per item sold through Amazon's warehouse and logistics network in the United States and Canada from October 15 to January 14.

Amazon added: "We have previously absorbed these cost increases, but seasonal expenses have reached new levels."

Impact of inflation

Inflation poses significant challenges to the retail sector in the United States by increasing labor and transportation costs, forcing consumers to cut back on spending.

Amazon explained in July, after raising the price of its Prime service by 17% in the United States in February, that its growth is slowing down.
