Ten people were taken to the hospital and two others died after a truck driver collided with a wedding party in West Vancouver on Saturday night. The accident occurred around 6 p.m., according to Health Emergency Services, which said it sent 11 ambulances.
The Health and Safety Department said that among the ten patients taken to the hospital, two are in critical condition, three in serious condition, and five in stable condition.
It was reported that the vehicle was backing out of the road when it entered a driveway and accelerated towards a crowd of people celebrating a private wedding. In this regard, Gordon Ridged, who lives nearby, said: "It's very scary this morning to wake up realizing that the end is very close and maybe people you know."
Marion Haglund, who also lives in the neighborhood, said: "It seems like a very tragic accident; I don't really know any details about whether it was an accident or intentional."
Haglund offered condolences to those who lost loved ones, and Ridged – who was on his way to church when he spoke to CTV News – said he intends to pray for the injured.
