Israeli opposition leader Yair Lapid warned during his party "Yesh Atid" weekly meeting, "If National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir is allowed to manage affairs in the Al-Aqsa Mosque and East Jerusalem, the area 'will catch fire' during the upcoming holy month of Ramadan."

Lapid said today, Monday, "I consider it my duty to warn the government, the country is not ready for this. There is no preparation. There is no plan. And there have been no practical and political discussions at the appropriate level, we are heading towards disaster. Another disaster.”

According to the "Times of Israel" newspaper, Lapid pointed out that this is what Ben-Gvir wants, but this is not what the state of Israel needs," calling on Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to restrict Ben-Gvir's authority and appoint a team to oversee Israel's preparations for this turbulent period.

He continued, "We didn't need an interview in the Wall Street Journal to remind us that Ben-Gvir is a dangerous clown who prefers to ignite fires rather than extinguish them, but during Ramadan, this could cause a widespread fire that would cost human lives."

I say to the government: You have been warned.”

The American newspaper published on Sunday an interview with the far-right minister in which he severely criticized the Biden administration's handling of the Gaza war, accused it of benefiting Hamas, and argued that Israel would have been in a better position if Trump's second administration had been in power.

Ben-Gvir declared: “Instead of giving us his full support, US President Joe Biden is busy providing humanitarian aid and fuel, which goes to Hamas. If Trump were in power, the behavior of the United States would be completely different.
