Croatia won 2-1 against Morocco to claim third place in the FIFA World Cup in Qatar and ensured finishing the tournament among the top three for the second consecutive time, today Saturday.

Josko Gvardiol gave Croatia the lead when Lovro Majer sent a free kick to Ivan Perisic who escaped the defender and passed the ball to the RB Leipzig defender to shake the net after seven minutes.

Morocco needed only two minutes to equalize from a free kick as well, as Majer tried to clear the ball but it reached an unmarked Achraf Dari who headed it into the goal.

Croatia secured the victory three minutes before the end of the first half when Mislav Orsic's wonderful shot hit the post and went inside the goal of Yassine Bounou, then the team maintained its lead in the second half.

Morocco reached the semi-finals - as the first Arab and African team to reach this stage - after a "historic" journey, which saw it overcome prestigious teams such as Spain (Round of 16) and Portugal (Quarter-finals), before losing to the world champion (France) in the semi-final match.
