A judge in Ontario extended the court order to stop the formation of blockades at the Ambassador Bridge international crossing, where Chief Justice Geoffrey Morawetz agreed to a request to extend the court order issued by the city of Windsor on Friday.

On the other hand, Morawetz says he will provide his reasons for this decision next week.

The city claimed there was an imminent threat by protesters to close the bridge again.

For his part, the protesters' lawyer said the continuation of the court order is questionable since traffic is flowing to and from the bridge.

Morawetz issued a court order today, Friday, February 11, to prevent protesters from imposing a siege or obstructing access to the international border crossing for 10 days.

On the other hand, a group of protesters against COVID-19 mandates established a blockade on Huron Church Road leading to the international border crossing on Monday, February 7.

After the court order was issued, enforcement procedures to evacuate the protesters escalated over the weekend with the support of other judicial authorities.

The police issued a total of 90 charges, arrested 46 people, and confiscated 37 vehicles.

The border was reopened to traffic heading to the United States on Sunday.

Since then, barriers have been erected along the roads located between east and west to prevent emerging protests.
