The HENKAW human rights organization reported that Iranian security forces fired shots and tear gas at protesters in Saqqez (in Iran’s Kurdistan province), the birthplace of Mahsa Amini, after commemorating her death on Wednesday, where dozens gathered at the cemetery defying the strict security measures imposed to honor her at the end of the mourning period. The Norwegian HENKAW association, which monitors rights violations in Kurdistan province, also said on Twitter, "Security forces fired tear gas and opened fire on people in Zendan Square in Saqqez town." Also, the authorities cut off internet access in Saqqez “for security reasons,” according to the ISNA agency. The agency also explained that "about 10,000 people, especially from the people of Saqqez city, but also from neighboring cities, headed" to the cemetery to commemorate the 40th day. In the same context, according to human rights activists, security agencies warned Amini's family against holding the 40-day ceremony and asking people to visit her grave on Wednesday in Kurdistan province, otherwise "they should worry about the life of their son." On Tuesday, the Islamic Republic News Agency "IRNA" published a statement said the family issued in which it stated, "Given the circumstances, and to avoid any unfortunate problem, we will not commemorate the 40 days" since Mahsa's death.
