A new study conducted by researchers at the University of California, USA, revealed the risks of consuming fatty fast food and foods saturated with fats.
It also refers to global statistics attributed to specialized medical universities and the World Health Organization, indicating that non-alcoholic fatty liver disease is increasing at an unprecedented rate worldwide. The reason is the accelerated lifestyle and fat-saturated meals, in addition to obesity.
The recent American study also revealed that these foods may threaten liver health and gradually lead to its functional failure, even if individuals do not suffer from obesity or diabetes.
The researchers found that thirty percent of study participants consume more than their daily specified calories due to their routine reliance on fatty and fast foods in their eating pattern.
According to the researchers, consuming at least 20 percent of total daily calories from fast food can increase the risk of fatty liver disease and cause liver failure in its function.
Fatty liver is a life-threatening condition that can lead, in severe cases, to cirrhosis and liver cancer.
The researchers also believe that healthy choices can protect people from this disease. Such choices are widely available, inexpensive, and easy to prepare. They also provide great benefits to human health. They emphasize the importance of reading labels and monitoring calories, especially since this health problem now threatens people at young ages.
