U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken arrived today, Wednesday, in Kyiv as part of a visit aimed at reaffirming Washington's support for Ukraine in its war against Russia.
A statement from U.S. State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller explained that Blinken intends to emphasize the "steadfast commitment of the United States to Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity" and democracy in the country.
During his visit to Ukraine, the same source adds, Blinken is expected to meet with President Volodymyr Zelensky, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, and Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba to discuss Ukraine's counteroffensive, reconstruction, and rebuilding efforts.
The talks will specifically address Ukraine's needs in the energy, security, and humanitarian fields, as well as how the United States can contribute to supporting Ukraine in these areas.
Before arriving in Ukraine, the U.S. Secretary of State met with Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen.
The statement confirmed that both sides discussed the war in Ukraine and highlighted the importance of the U.S.-Danish alliance in enhancing transatlantic security.
