What started as a meeting between four friends in a café in 2015 ended with a drawing on a napkin for a flying car, and after years of work, the founders of Xp Aero, a California-based startup, obtained approval from the US Federal Aviation Administration to begin testing their flying car "Model A".

The company announced that it received permission to start testing what it calls the world's first real flying car on June 27, and the company also obtained a special airworthiness certificate from the US Federal Aviation Administration. This comes after the company revealed prototypes of the car in October 2022.

Experts say the car must meet the safety standards set by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration before consumers can enjoy daily usability, and the company aims to launch its cars in the air by 2025.

The flying car is priced at $300,000 and has a range of 175 kilometers. The company is currently accepting pre-orders for the car on its website. The vehicle is capable of vertical takeoff and landing, as well as flying over traffic and roads, and the company says it hopes to solve traffic congestion problems by inventing the next best mode of transportation using its flying car.
