Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky agreed to Russian President Vladimir Putin's proposal to launch negotiations on a ceasefire and peace settlement, according to "Russia Today".

The spokesperson for the Ukrainian presidency, Serhiy Nykyforov, wrote on Facebook: "We have agreed to the Russian president's proposal, and in the coming hours the two parties will discuss the time and place of the negotiations."

According to him, the earlier the negotiation process starts, the greater the chances of restoring "normal life." Earlier, the spokesperson for the Russian presidency, Dmitry Peskov, said that Russian President Vladimir Putin is ready to send a Russian delegation to Minsk to negotiate with the Ukrainian delegation.

Regarding the negotiations, Ilya Kiva, a deputy of the Ukrainian party "Opposition Platform – For Life," said to the "112" TV channel on Thursday: "Today, we must form a negotiation team with expertise, knowledge, and weight in society to sit at the table and seek compromises, because the war is pointless and has been lost, Russian tanks have entered Kyiv, and continuing the war means the destruction of our men."

It is worth mentioning that Jen Psaki, the White House spokesperson, said that the United States will impose sanctions on the Russian president, explaining that the Ukrainian president is still in office and bravely facing the Russian attack.

The White House spokesperson added during a press conference that the sanctions step aims to send a strong message to Putin in response to the attack, adding: We have not ruled out the option of expelling Russia from the SWIFT system.

The White House spokesperson continued that US President Joe Biden believes it is time for all world leaders to condemn the Russian attack, warning Moscow: "Targeting President Zelensky will constitute a 'horrific act.'"

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky accused Europe of not responding sufficiently to the Russian attack and the delay in sending aid to his country, while calling on Europeans to demonstrate to force their governments to act against the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

The Ukrainian president said, "Europe can still act to stop the Russian aggression, and the Russian attack takes us back to the atmosphere of World War II," sending a message to Russian President Vladimir Putin saying, "We must sit together to talk," and directed another message to his country's army, stating: "You are all we have."

The Russian Ministry of Defense said that Russian forces control Zmiinyi Island in the Black Sea following the surrender of 82 Ukrainian soldiers.

The Ukrainian army announced the arrival of large numbers of Russian armored vehicles to the northern outskirts of the capital Kyiv.

The Ukrainian army said it is fighting Russian armored units in the cities of Dymer and Ivankiv, located successively 45 and 80 km north of Kyiv.
