Tunisian President Kais Saied announced today, Wednesday, the official dissolution of the parliament.

Saied confirmed that a meeting of deputies in the suspended parliament, held online, conspired against state security, calling on the Minister of Justice to take legal action against them.

The Tunisian president said: "What happened today is a blatant violation of the law," stressing that he will not  let them continue their mischief.

Saied continued: "The flood has reached its limit, and we will bear full responsibility and confront the enemies of the people."

Meanwhile, local media reported that the Tunisian Minister of Justice requested the State Prosecutor at the Court of Appeal to open an investigation against deputies of the suspended parliament on charges of conspiring against state security and forming a criminal alliance after they held a session online today, Wednesday.

Members of parliament voted today  Wednesday, to cancel decrees and decisions by President Kais Saied and his near-total control of power, openly defying him in an online session, despite him describing their meeting as illegal.

Saied had suspended the parliament's work on July 25 and took control of the executive authority.

Saied said in December that he would call for a constitutional referendum in July followed by parliamentary elections at the end of 2022.
