The Prime Minister is on a 6-day tour of the Indo-Pacific region.

Today, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau met with Indonesian President Joko Widodo, where the two leaders discussed trade and their growing partnership.

Trudeau was officially welcomed at the presidential palace, where he was greeted by an Indonesian military band.

Indonesia is hosting the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), as the bloc of 10 countries prepares to make Ottawa its newest strategic partner.

Widodo left an event at the summit to greet Trudeau in person in Jakarta.

Before their bilateral meeting, Trudeau gifted Widodo a Canadian basketball team jersey with his nickname, Jokowi, along with the number seven, signifying that Widodo is the seventh president of Indonesia.
