British Home Secretary Suella Braverman said she intends to submit a proposal to the Cabinet to strengthen the fight against the use of tents by homeless people in public places.
Braverman wrote on her page on the social media site X: "Those I want to stop, and what the law-abiding majority want from us, are those who cause nuisance and restrictions to others by camping in public places."
The minister did not provide any specific details about her proposal, only emphasizing that the authorities will always support those who truly have no home. During this, the minister pointed out that the government cannot allow the streets to "be filled with rows of tents inhabited by people, many of whom came from abroad and consider living on the street as a lifestyle."
Earlier, a report issued by the Joseph Rowntree Foundation (JRF), a charity combating poverty, stated that more than one million children in Britain suffered from poverty in 2022 amid a record rise in the cost of living in the country.
Also, according to data from Buttle UK Foundation, about 120,000 children live in Britain below the poverty line, which is much higher than similar figures in previous years.
