Supporters of the Palestinian cause continued to gather in various Canadian cities for the fourth consecutive week; to support Palestine and demand a ceasefire, condemning the international silence regarding the ongoing Israeli crimes against civilians and children in Gaza.
Tens of thousands took to the streets in downtown Toronto to denounce the continuation of Israeli crimes and targeting of civilians, demanding freedom for Palestine and a ceasefire.
The demonstration witnessed a large gathering in front of the U.S. consulate in Toronto, located on University Avenue.
The demonstrations are part of the "National Day of Action for Palestine" organized by the Palestinian Youth Movement, which aims to facilitate marches and protests in cities across the country to express their demands for an immediate ceasefire, lifting the "siege on Gaza," and allowing immediate aid.
Police forces were heavily deployed in downtown Toronto.
Meanwhile, in the capital Ottawa, hundreds gathered in front of the Canadian Parliament, holding signs supporting the Palestinian resistance until liberation.
Demonstrations also took place in the cities of Montreal, St. John's, Fredericton, Milton, and Calgary. These protests coincide with others around the world demanding a ceasefire and accountability for the Israeli government's war crimes.
On the other hand, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced in a tweet on the X platform, formerly known as Twitter, that he had spoken with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, saying "I spoke with Prime Minister Netanyahu today and reiterated Canada’s support for Israel and its right to defend itself, in accordance with international law. We also discussed the need for Hamas to immediately and unconditionally release the hostages held."
