The U.S. police said on Tuesday that a man who rammed a rented large closed truck into security barriers near the White House faces several criminal charges.

The incident occurred on Monday, and authorities said it might have been intentional.

The police explained in a statement that the suspect faced charges of threatening to kill or kidnap or harm the president or vice president or a family member, among other charges, and did not specify the man's identity.

The U.S. Secret Service said it detained the man following the incident, and there is no ongoing danger and no injuries occurred.

According to "Reuters," investigators found a flag bearing the Nazi emblem, the swastika, inside the truck that collided with the barriers in Lafayette Square adjacent to the White House grounds.

It was not clear exactly where President Joe Biden was when the incident occurred, and Biden had met with House Speaker Kevin McCarthy at the White House earlier Monday evening.
