Toronto police announced yesterday, Tuesday, that the wanted suspect in connection with the fatal shooting of a 29-year-old Toronto man in the eastern part of the city last summer tops the list of wanted fugitives in Canada.

A reward of $100,000 has been offered for information leading to the arrest of 35-year-old Michael Babby, who is wanted for his connection to the murder of Shamar Paul Flowers exactly nine months ago.

The reward was also announced yesterday, Tuesday, as Toronto police revealed the updated (BOLO) list of the top 25 wanted fugitives across Canada.

Speaking at a press conference, Toronto Police Chief Myron Demkiw said that at the time of Paul Flowers' murder, Babby was under a firearms prohibition due to his role in another shooting incident in Toronto four years ago.

The victim’s family issued a statement yesterday, Tuesday, saying they are still suffering from the loss of the 29-year-old young man, who was shot near the intersection of Danforth and Carlaw in the early morning hours of July 23, 2023.

The statement read: "For nine months, we have been paralyzed not only by grief but by the realization that there are people who could help us, yet they have chosen instead to remain silent."

Overall, the BOLO program offers a total reward of one million dollars for information leading to the arrest of the suspects listed.

Six suspects in Toronto have been included on this year's list, including Christian Coxum, who is wanted for the murder of Edwin Alvarado in October 2022.

Alvarado was also shot in the La Liga Sports Complex, near Finch Avenue West and Dufferin Street, on the evening of October 9, 2022, and police stated that a reward of $100,000 is also offered for information leading to the arrest of Coxum.

Deshawn Davis has been listed as the eleventh wanted fugitive on the list for his alleged involvement in the abduction of the refugee Hajat Meeri on January 12, 2022, from a home in Wasaga Beach, and he has not been seen or heard from since.

Langlois stated that 21 out of the 58 suspects highlighted by the program have been arrested.

He added, "I can tell you without a doubt that the vast majority of these cases have made progress in terms of investigative leads."
