The World Health Organization confirmed that the incidence of the coronavirus saw an increase in cases by 38% in August compared to the previous month, with more than 1.4 million cases reported worldwide.
The World Health Organization published its epidemic update report on Saturday, stating that in the 28-day period from July 31 to August 27, more than 1.4 million new cases of COVID-19 were reported, along with over 1,800 deaths due to the virus.
In comparison to the previous 28-day period, there was a 38% increase in cases and a 50% decrease in the mortality rate.
According to the report, the reported cases do not accurately reflect infection rates due to decreased testing and reporting globally.
According to data from the World Health Organization, more than 770 million cases of COVID-19 have been reported, along with 6 million and 956 thousand deaths due to the pandemic worldwide.
