In the northern governorates, the Palestinian President retired nine governors: the governor of Jenin, the governor of Nablus, the governor of Qalqilya, the governor of Tulkarem, the governor of Bethlehem, the governor of Hebron, the governor of Tubas, and the governor of Jericho and the Jordan Valley.
Abbas issued a presidential decree to form a presidential committee, comprising a number of leading specialists to select candidates for the positions of governors of the vacant governorates and submit them to the president for a decision.
