The Canadian police arrested three Indian men yesterday, Friday, and charged them with the murder of Sikh separatist leader Hardip Singh Nijjar last year, stating that they are investigating potential connections to the Indian government.

Nijjar (45 years old) was shot dead last June outside a Sikh temple in Surrey, a suburb of Vancouver with a large Sikh population. After months following Nijjar's murder, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau pointed to evidence of the Indian government's involvement in the killing, sparking a diplomatic crisis with New Delhi.

The police stated that the matter is still under investigation, with further inquiries ongoing. The three men are Karanpreet Singh (28 years old), Kamalpreet Singh (22 years old), and Karan Brar (22 years old).

Last week, the White House expressed concern about reports of the Indian intelligence agency's involvement in assassination plots in Canada and the United States.

Vancouver police stated they are cooperating with U.S. law enforcement agencies but did not provide details.

The police noted that the three, all Indian citizens, were arrested in Edmonton, Alberta, on Friday. They are expected to arrive in British Columbia, where Vancouver is located, by Monday.
