Statistics Canada released new data on how the economy started in the third quarter, stating that the country's Gross Domestic Product has not changed significantly. One economist said this highlights the ongoing trend of weak performance.
David Macdonald, a senior economist at the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives, told CTV News's Akshay Tandon on Friday: "The economy is stable... we are not seeing any indicators of strong growth." "If we end up in a recession, which is quite reasonable... it would be a recession that is almost out of place at this stage."
Statistics Canada also reported that real GDP did not change significantly in July.
