The police said they are investigating a suspicious fire that broke out in Mississauga at the office of Liberal MP Peter Fonseca on Tuesday morning.
Heather Cannon, a representative of the Peel Regional Police, said emergency crews were called to a commercial plaza near Burnhamthorpe Road and Tomken Road at 4:19 a.m. Tuesday to report a fire.
"Police attended with the fire department, where the fire was extinguished and no one was injured."
She said investigators from the Peel Police and the Ontario Fire Marshal's office are investigating the incident.
The door of Fonseca’s office was covered with a wooden board on Wednesday, as well as the door of an adjacent burger restaurant.
A security camera placed above Fonseca’s office appeared to be smeared with white or gray paint.
Investigators are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident to contact them.
