At least 30 people were killed due to airstrikes carried out by the Sudanese army on Sunday in southern Khartoum, according to what the "AFP" news agency reported from local sources.
The local "Resistance Committee" said: "The number of victims of the Qoro market massacre in the Mayo area has risen to 30 dead, and cases are still arriving at Bashair Hospital."
The committee, which is a grassroots group active in providing support to residents, had previously reported 11 deaths and dozens of injuries.
This comes at a time when the Sudanese army and Rapid Support Forces are engaged in battles for control of the country.
Sudan has been experiencing violence since mid-April, when tensions erupted between the country's army, led by Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, and the Rapid Support Forces led by Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, escalating into open conflict.
The conflict has resulted in the deaths of more than 4,000 people, according to August statistics released by the United Nations.
However, the actual number is certainly much higher, say doctors and activists.
More than 5 million people have been displaced within Sudan or fled the country to escape the violence, according to the International Organization for Migration.
