The Bic National Park (le parc national du Bic) in eastern Quebec province was severely damaged by the storm that hit it on December 23.
Strong winds uprooted hundreds of trees, some over 70 years old, in this park managed by the Quebec Outdoor Facilities Corporation (Sépaq) under the Quebec government, as reported by Radio Canada this evening.
Due to the damage, five of the park's ten trails are currently closed to outdoor enthusiasts. The other five trails remain open but with some obstacles, according to Willet.
Seasonal workers have been called in to remove tree debris, and they will begin this work on Thursday morning. Two teams equipped with machinery will also be deployed to clean and reopen the closed pedestrian trails.
Despite the damage, Bic National Park will keep its doors open on Wednesday and Thursday.
