South Korea confirmed the sixth case of African swine fever this year.

The government stated today, Sunday, that the latest confirmed case was in the city of "Yecheon" in the southeast of the country in the "Gyeongsangbuk-do" province at a pig farm that houses around 900 pigs, according to the South Korean "KBS World" radio network.

This confirmation comes after cases were recorded in the "Yeongcheon" and "Andong" areas of the province.

Health authorities sent an initial response team and epidemiologists to the "Yecheon" farm, where they intend to disinfect the farm and nearby roads and cull the pigs as a precautionary measure.

It is worth noting that African swine fever does not affect humans or other animals, but the disease is fatal to pigs, and there is currently no vaccine or treatment for it.
