This program comes as a continuation of the first phase that launched last April targeting the areas of Riyadh, Qassim, and Hail.
The CEO of the National Center for Meteorology in Saudi Arabia, Ayman bin Salem Ghulam, explained that the work in the program is carried out according to a scheduled timeline plan in coordination with all relevant authorities to ensure the success of operations and achieve the program’s goals.
The national cloud seeding program, which was approved by the Council of Ministers and announced as part of a package of national and regional initiatives by the Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman at the Middle East Green Summit, aims to increase rainfall levels and create a new water source,
and to contribute to programs increasing green cover and afforestation, reducing desertification, and qualifying national cadres.
The program is considered one of the promising methods hoped to be a component of maintaining water balance, as it is a safe, flexible technology with a moderate cost.
