A Spanish report revealed that the Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo, forward for the Saudi club Al Nassr, decided to open the doors of his private hotel located in the Moroccan city of Marrakech to accommodate those affected by the "violent" earthquake that struck Morocco.

This violent earthquake, measuring 6.8 on the Richter scale, shook several cities in Morocco late on Friday, September 8, 2023, resulting in thousands of deaths and injuries.

The Spanish newspaper Marca confirmed that the hotel owned by Cristiano Ronaldo in Morocco, where he stays during every visit to the kingdom, has transformed into a shelter for those affected by the earthquake.

The newspaper also explained that as soon as the earthquake ended, citizens rushed to places where they felt safe, and Cristiano Ronaldo's hotel in Marrakech was one of those destinations.

The "Pestana CR7" hotel in Marrakech is classified as a 4-star hotel, covering an area of 20,000 square meters, and contains 164 rooms, a health clinic, an outdoor swimming pool, a fitness center, and a restaurant, but as soon as the disaster struck, the hotel management was keen to provide its services to the affected as much as possible.

The Spanish newspaper highlighted statements from one of the women affected by the earthquake, who said: "We had to come to the new area in Marrakech, where there are many luxury hotels, and now I was able to stay at Cristiano Ronaldo's hotel on the outskirts of Marrakech and got a room."

She added: "We slept all night in the street, and at seven in the morning they told us yes, you can come, there are a lot of people from different nationalities in the hotel."

According to statistics from the Moroccan Ministry of Interior, the number of victims of the earthquake that struck Morocco late on Friday, September 8, 2023, has risen to 1,037 deaths, in addition to 1,024 injuries, including 721 serious injuries as of the time of publishing this news. This earthquake is considered the most violent to hit the kingdom of Morocco in a century.

Cristiano Ronaldo participated with the Portuguese national team in the match where his teammates defeated Slovakia 1-0 on Friday, September 8, 2023, as part of the fifth round of the Euro 2024 qualifying matches, reinforcing "the Brazil of Europe" at the top of Group 10 with 15 points from 5 complete victories.
