The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia denied holding a meeting between the Saudi Minister of Commerce, Majid Al-Qasabi, and the Israeli Minister of Trade and Industry, Nir Barkat, on the sidelines of a conference hosted by the United Arab Emirates, affirming that the Kingdom's position on the Palestinian issue remains firm against the "Israeli aggression".
In the Saudi statement issued today, Tuesday, "With reference to the circulated video clip on social media platforms about the meeting of the Minister of Commerce Dr. Majid bin Abdullah Al-Qasabi with one of the Israeli occupation officials, the responsible source denied the alleged meeting," according to the Saudi Press Agency "SPA" on Monday evening.
The responsible source said, "The video clip was taken while the Saudi Minister of Commerce was standing with his Nigerian counterpart before the opening of the 13th Ministerial Conference of the World Trade Organization in the UAE capital Abu Dhabi, where a person approached to greet him, and then introduced himself as the Minister of Economy in the government of the Israeli occupation, without prior knowledge of the person's identity."
The source also affirmed "the Kingdom's firm position on the Palestinian issue and support for the steadfastness of the Palestinian people against Israeli aggression."
The events of the 13th Ministerial Conference of the World Trade Organization began in Abu Dhabi on Monday and will continue until next Thursday, with the participation of ministers of commerce and senior officials from around the world who will hold discussions on the rules and regulations governing global trade activities and seek to reshape its future.
