A seal pup was found weak and alone on the beach by one of the people present at the site after being spotted.

Immediately called the RCMP.

The pup "Timbit" was rescued, according to a statement issued by the Marine Mammal Rescue Centre after the intervention of a specialized team "Vancouver Aquarium".

Every year, seals, sea lions, otters, and other creatures are accepted, and the current mission is to rehabilitate Timbit until he is released again into the ocean.

The care he is currently receiving includes feeding him via a tube five times a day and supplementary fluids.

The rescue team reminds British Columbians that "pupping season" has begun and that the mere presence of a small seal does not mean it needs human intervention.

Lindsay Ackhorst, Director of the Marine Mammal Rescue Centre, said in a press release: "This is an exciting time of year to watch marine mammals in the wild.

However, we want to remind people not to disturb them." "It is important to remember that it is normal for seal mothers to leave their young on the beach to rest while they look for food elsewhere.

The best thing you can do if you observe a seal pup you suspect needs help is to watch it closely and then intervene because most pups usually wait for their mothers to return from hunting."

Ackhorst says that in recent years, "human interaction and intervention" have led to the acceptance of "a worrying number of animals" into the rescue process.

The rescue process accommodates about 150 animals each year, according to the statement, and 80 percent of them are rehabilitated and released successfully.

Anyone who discovers a seal pup is asked to call 604-258-7325, and other marine mammals can be reported to Fisheries and Oceans at 1-800-465-4336.
