Ottawa has surpassed another milestone in the COVID-19 pandemic, with over 87,000 laboratory-confirmed cases.
Ottawa Public Health reported 165 new COVID-19 cases over the past three days, along with two new virus-related deaths.
Since the first COVID-19 case in Ottawa in March 2020, there have been a total of 87,151 cases in Ottawa, including 980 deaths.
In its twice-weekly COVID-19 report, Ottawa Public Health said there are 25 Ottawa residents hospitalized due to an active case of COVID-19, down from 28 on Tuesday. There is one person in the intensive care unit.
The OPH hospital figures also represent Ottawa residents currently hospitalized due to an active case of COVID-19, while local hospitals have reported higher numbers, which include patients admitted for reasons other than COVID-19 but confirmed to be infected, and patients who are not from Ottawa.
Respiratory virus levels in Ottawa remain high, with influenza, RSV, and COVID-19 affecting the population.
OPH also tweeted earlier this week: "Respiratory virus levels circulating in our community remain high."
