Conservative Party leader Pierre Poilievre said on Sunday that the upcoming federal budget should cut taxes, limit spending, and facilitate the construction of new homes, blaming the liberals for the current economic problems.
Poilievre outlined his party's budget priorities in advance of the government's latest fiscal plan, which will be presented to Parliament on March 28.
The Conservative leader also accused Prime Minister Justin Trudeau of fueling inflation and making it difficult for Canadians to feed and house their families.
However, the budget is expected to include new measures to support Canada's transition to a more prosperous economy and compete with the United States in the field of clean technology.
The document is also expected to represent billions of new spending on healthcare that will flow through bilateral deals with the provinces.
In the same context, Poilievre said that eliminating taxes and the deficit will lower the cost of gas, heating, and groceries and reduce interest rates "so that Canadians can pay their mortgage installments again."
The New Democratic Party leader Jagmeet Singh is holding economic meetings with prominent economists before the budget, as well as meeting workers and families to find out what can help them more.
The New Democratic Party leader said in a statement on Friday: "Good work gives you a home that fits your family, healthy food, and some savings for the future."
But he continued that the cost of everything has outpaced wage rates, and successive increases in interest rates have made life harder.
