Protesters stormed the Libyan city of Tobruk on Friday, breaking into the parliament headquarters and setting it on fire.
Videos circulated on social media showed a number of protesters entering the parliament headquarters and setting it on fire, with thick columns of black smoke rising from the vicinity of the parliament building after angry protesters burned car tires.
Libyan media reported that these events come after calls were launched on social media to demonstrate on Friday in protest against the harsh living conditions faced by the Libyan people, including cash shortages, prolonged electricity outages, and other crises.
Dozens protested in front of the House of Representatives before storming it, chanting slogans against corruption and the current dire conditions in the country.
The protesters described the members of the Libyan House of Representatives as one of the reasons for the corruption in the country.
