The police seized more than two kilograms of cocaine and "large quantities" of chemicals from a secret synthetic drug lab in LaSalle.

The Criminal Lab Investigation Response Team (CLIRT) of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received information in June that a secret synthetic drug lab was operating in the city.

The OPP, LaSalle Police, Ontario Fire Marshall, LaSalle Fire Service, and Essex-Windsor EMS executed a search warrant at a residential location in LaSalle on Wednesday.

As a result of the search warrant, police said they found a secret synthetic drug lab processing cocaine.

Police seized more than two kilograms of cocaine along with chemicals associated with a cocaine extraction lab, including acetone, isopropyl alcohol, hexane, myristic acid, and hydrochloric acid.

The police say there is no public safety concern associated with the dismantling of the synthetic drug lab identified in this investigation.

A press release from the OPP stated: "The flammable chemicals were removed from the site by a hazardous waste management company."

At this time, no charges have been laid and the investigation is ongoing. The OPP says indicators of a synthetic drug lab include: suspicious activity and secretive behavior.
