The German police announced today, Friday, that about 16 people were injured as a result of a collision between a locomotive and a passenger train in the state of Schleswig-Holstein in northern Germany.
The police stated that "the accident occurred at about 12:25 local time, at Itzehoe station."
They also explained: "When the locomotive coupled with a stationary passenger train, a collision occurred that resulted in the injury of 16 people on board the train."
They added that "11 passengers on an Intercity high-speed train needed hospital admission, while five others refused, and all the victims sustained minor injuries."
Measures were also taken and the railway lines were excavated for two and a half hours after the collision. The police opened an investigation into the accident.
