Japanese Foreign Minister Yoko Kamikawa announced today, Friday, November 3, 2023, during a visit to the region that included Tel Aviv and Jordan, that her country will provide additional humanitarian aid to the Palestinians worth 65 million dollars, due to concerns about the conflict in Gaza.

Speaking to journalists in Jordan after her meeting with the foreign minister of the occupying state, Eli Cohen, and his Palestinian counterpart Riyad al-Maliki, Kamikawa also said that Japan plans to provide material aid to war-torn Gaza.

Kamikawa also added that "it is necessary for the occupying entity and Palestine to be able to coexist peacefully in order to prevent any other tragic act from recurring," adding that she informed Cohen and al-Maliki of Japan’s continued support for the two-state solution.

The visit comes days before Japan hosts the Foreign Ministers of the G7 group in Tokyo amid the worsening crisis in Gaza as the Zionist entity refuses calls for a humanitarian ceasefire, and Hassan Nasrallah, Secretary-General of the Lebanese Hezbollah group, warns of escalation and the conflict spreading to neighboring areas.

Kamikawa refrained from commenting on whether Israeli strikes on Gaza fall within the limits of international law, but said that actors must adhere to the spirit of protecting human rights and not cause unnecessary deaths among civilians.
