The boycott clause was activated on Friday at midnight in Nova Scotia as the fuel market in the Maritimes continues to adapt to global price fluctuations.

This means that another price adjustment is expected at fuel station pumps. Gasoline dropped by 9 cents per liter in Nova Scotia, and more than 9 cents per liter at its counterparts. Diesel also fell significantly.

Energy expert Dan McTeague says it is difficult to predict how long the price drop will last.

Meanwhile, fuel prices in New Brunswick have risen. Regular self-service increased by 0.9 cents per liter this week, and diesel returned to over two dollars per liter.

The owner of Sou’ Wester restaurant in Peggy’s Cove, NS, says when fuel costs go down, it usually leads to increased business for tourism operators.

John Campbell said, "I think that will definitely help. The cheaper the gas, the more people travel."

"Also, people are traveling by car and bus to Peggy's Cove in near-record numbers this year."
