Firefighters on site were battling a series of fires on the outskirts of Saskatoon.

A fire was reported along the tracks north of 71st Street east to the Saskatoon Fire Department (SFD).

The first crew found a fire near New Holland and Sarkan, according to a press release from the department. As the fire spread, more equipment was sent to the scene.

The ministry said multiple fires causing multiple incidents were identified."

No injuries have been reported. However, the department said the hot weather was creating challenges for firefighters.

The Social Development Fund press release stated that "firefighting in this extreme heat is being considered, and crews are rotating regularly to prevent firefighters from overheating and dehydration and to stay safe to be at their best for firefighting."

The Fire Department says crews from Warman and Martensville are also assisting at the scene.

The Social Development Fund said in a Friday evening press release, "A fire investigator was asked to document fire patterns and map them, assess the damage, and determine the cause.

The fire investigator will provide a report to the incident commander at the Social Development Fund upon arrival."
