After the workweek ends in spring-like weather, with the return of sunshine and warmer air, Montreal is preparing for periods of continuous rainfall over the weekend.
The Canadian Ministry of Environment has issued a rain warning for Montreal, Laval, Mont Tremblant - Saint-Agathe area, Vaudreuil, and the Valleyfield - Beauharnois area.
The warning stated that there will be heavy rainfall at times.
The total rainfall is expected to reach 30 to 50 mm during two phases of rain from Saturday evening to Sunday morning, and again that evening until Monday morning.
The warning report continued, "Local flooding is possible in low-lying areas."
Montreal will also experience light rain early Saturday afternoon.
An initial amount of between five to 10 mm of rain is expected.
While the city may see occasional dry spells on Sunday, continuous rain is expected.
Intermittent rain is also expected to continue through mid-next week with a slight daytime temperature rise to just below the seasonal average of 15 degrees Celsius.
