The male gymnasts are the latest Canadian athletes to earn a spot to compete as a team in the upcoming Summer Olympics in Paris.
Canada, which needed to finish in the top 12 in the qualifying round on October 1 for the World Artistic Gymnastics Championships, scored 249.26 points across six events to qualify in fourth place in the team finals on October 3 in Antwerp, Belgium.
Canada also failed to qualify and send a men's gymnastics team to the Summer Games since 2008 in Beijing.
"The mission is accomplished," said René Cournoyer, the only member of the men's team who participated in the Tokyo Olympics three years ago, to Gymnastics Canada. He added, "This fourth place is very important and I am extremely proud of my teammates."
Felix Dulcie from Saint-Austache in Quebec shone during the team qualifiers, finishing eighth on the pommel horse with a score of 14.133.
The Canadian Gymnastics Federation also stated that Zachary Clay from Langley, British Columbia, who has participated in seven world championships, played a key role in Sunday’s achievement by showcasing his skills on the pommel horse.
Jason Ramprasad, William Imard, and Yani Chronopoulos are the other team members.
