The subway company said it reached a preliminary agreement with the union representing striking employees at 27 grocery stores across the Greater Toronto Area.
The company added in a statement this Wednesday morning: "The agreement, which is considered fair and just for our employees and customers, was unanimously recommended by the union bargaining committee, and will put an end to the labor dispute if ratified."
The company also stated that the preliminary deal will be presented to employees, represented by Unifor, for a ratification vote that will take place “soon”.
More than 3,700 workers at the surrounding stores in the GTA have been on strike since July 29.
Some workers have said that their wages mean they can barely afford the food sold in the stores where they work.
