Investigators from the Calgary Fire Department and arson investigators are looking into the cause of a massive fire that broke out suddenly in the southeastern community of Riverbend.

The fire started in a separate garage located in block 100 of Riverglen Crescent early yesterday morning, Thursday.

A statement issued by the Calgary Fire Department regarding this matter stated:

“Upon approaching the fire site, the first fire crews noticed a huge fire that had spread from a separate garage to a home and extended to neighboring houses.”

In light of these events, additional crews were called in to assist in controlling the fire, which had spread to two homes and began to reach a third adjacent home.

All individuals living in the two homes were able to exit safely, and the third home was unoccupied.

ATCO and ENMAX were also on the scene to manage utilities.
