The English Premier League is witnessing fierce competition among English clubs for the title, among which is Manchester City, the defending champion for the last three editions, which officially announced today, Friday, the signing of Portuguese international Matheus Nunes for a duration of 5 years, coming from Wolverhampton.
The club said in a statement on its official website: "Manchester City is pleased to announce the signing of Matheus Nunes from Wolverhampton Wanderers on a five-year contract."
It added: "The Portuguese international player is our fourth signing this summer, following Croatian duo Mateo Kovačić and Joško Gvardiol, in addition to Belgian winger Jérémy Doku."
The player stated in his remarks: "I am very happy to join Manchester City, the champions of Europe and the club I have admired for a long time."
He added: "The opportunity to work under Pep Guardiola, one of the greatest managers of all time, alongside some of the best players in the world, was something I couldn’t refuse."
He continued: "I have learned a lot during my season at Wolverhampton and I am excited to continue improving in the Premier League, which brings out the best in me. I am really looking forward to getting started and meeting the fans, and I hope to be part of more success at City."
