The Malaysian government decided to evacuate the families of its embassy staff in the Lebanese capital, Beirut, amid the recent escalation in southern Lebanon.

This came as reported by the Malaysian news agency "Bernama", which stated that the families of diplomatic mission staff would need to remain in Malaysia until the threat to their safety subsides. The Malaysian Foreign Ministry added that the decision was a proactive step by the government to ensure the safety of its citizens.

The ministry clarified in a statement: "However, the Malaysian embassy will continue its work as usual," while suggesting that Malaysian citizens postpone non-essential travel to Lebanon.

Additionally, the Israeli Defense Ministry and army announced a plan to evacuate residents of 28 settlements in the north of the country near the border with Lebanon. The Israeli army stated on its website: "The National Emergency Agency in the Israeli Defense Ministry announces the launch of a plan to evacuate residents of the north, who live within two kilometers of the Lebanese border."

As the war on Gaza entered its tenth day since the launch of "Al-Aqsa Flood" operation by the Hamas movement on Saturday, October 7, 2023, amid a blockade and cutting off essential supplies to the sector, according to the latest update from the Palestinian Ministry of Health, the death toll from Israeli shelling has risen to 2,750 with more than 9,700 injured in the Gaza Strip, and 58 dead with more than 1,250 injured in the West Bank.

It is noted that tensions along the border between Lebanon and Israel began with the launch of the "Al-Aqsa Flood" operation on Saturday, October 7, where the Lebanese "Hezbollah" announced the "martyrdom of 3 of its members" due to Israeli shelling and military operations, while the Israeli army announced several casualties among its ranks following armed clashes and shelling from Lebanon.

The United States and its allies warned the Lebanese Hezbollah of the consequences of intervening in the ongoing Palestinian-Israeli conflict.

The NATO Secretary General, Jens Stoltenberg, also warned Iran and "Hezbollah" against intervening in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
