Houthi group demanded today, Tuesday, January 23, 2024, that United Nations and international organizations in Yemen withdraw their American and British employees within a month.

This demand from the Houthis to withdraw US and British employees comes simultaneously with Washington and London launching attacks on Houthi gatherings and headquarters in Yemen in response to the latter’s attacks on navigation in the Red Sea.

Earlier, the US Department of Defense announced directing American and British forces to a new round of strikes on Monday, against the Houthis in Yemen due to their targeting of shipping vessels in the Red Sea, hitting an underground storage site, missiles, and other military capabilities of the Houthis.

The Pentagon also revealed carrying out 8 new strikes, noting that "these precise strikes aim to disrupt and weaken the capabilities used by the Houthis to threaten global trade and the lives of innocent sailors."

For its part, the British Ministry of Defense said in a statement that it carried out more strikes against the Houthis in Yemen, and their attacks in the Red Sea continue to disrupt navigation.

The statement added that British aircraft used precision-guided bombs to hit several targets near Sanaa airport.

It pointed out that 4 Typhoon aircraft joined American forces in the strikes against Houthi sites in Yemen.

British defense confirmed that the strikes against Houthi sites will limit their ability to threaten global trade.
